John,

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experiences (and, thank you for reading even though you were bristled at first!). I am saddened by your story, and I wish none of these things had happened to you. I think that the same culture that produces sexual assault towards women produces it for men, which is, I think, what makes #metoo different than some movements. I hope that people start validating your voice and making a space for men to speak out — rape culture and silencing affect us all, in more ways than I think people know. I’m sure you know this, and I feel like I’m doing the equivalent of mansplaining, here ;). What I’m trying to get at is that I hear you, and I hope others start to, as well.

Keep on telling your story. You are brave.
